What we need...

OPEN HOUSE VOLUNTEERS

We have an amazing, once in a lifetime opportunity to help with the Layton Temple Open House. We will need volunteers in all capacities. We will need help with language skills, parking (you actually get to talk and interact with the visitors in this capacity), ushers (this will be a silent temple tour), security (we will need people with medical training), etc.

The dates our stake have been assigned are Monday, May 6th and Wednesday, May 22nd. The actual sign-ups will begin February 25, 2024 at 4:00 PM. We just want you to get these dates on your calendars now. The shifts will be 3 hours long with a brief training prior to each shift. There will be five different shifts per day, including one cleaning shift. Any special language tours will be held on Mondays. Volunteers need to be at least YM/YW age. It is not necessary to have a temple recommend or to be a member to volunteer.

Specific assignments will be made at the temple during the training immediately before the volunteer session. We ask that people initially sign up for one shift only. If we get closer to the date of the open house and still need volunteers, we will allow people to sign up for additional shifts. There will be additional volunteer categories. You can volunteer to be on call for our stake dates, on-call for any stake’s dates, or express availability if you have foreign language capability.

There will be additional volunteer categories. You can volunteer to be on call for our stake dates, on-call for any stake’s dates, or express availability if you have foreign language capability. Volunteers will be signing up for specific duties. Some will allow youth or adults (18+) some will only allow for adults. The categories are:

TEMPLE WORKERS

There are many opportunities to serve at the Layton Temple as Ordinance Workers and in many other areas such as laundry, housekeeping, maintenance, security, etc. Volunteers are required to hold a current temple recommend and should be able to fill one or more 4-6 hour shift per week. If you are interested in serving at the Temple, please schedule an interview with the Bishop through an Executive Secretary.

OPEN HOUSE DATES

Prior to the dedication, a public open house will be held on Friday, April 19, through Saturday, June 1, 2024, excluding Sundays. Reservations are highly recommended and will be made online starting in March. Carpooling is encouraged.

DEDICATION

Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at the dedication of the Layton Utah Temple on Sunday June 16, 2024. Two sessions will be held at 10 AM and 1:30 PM. The dedicatory sessions will be broadcast to all congregations in the Layton Utah Temple district. A temple recommend and dedication ticket will be required.
